When we returned I had gone back to my room to change and I figured I would catch up on the briefing later on. Since honestly the whole Science and Magic thing I realized were part of the operations the fact that I am a genius has sometimes caused me to let others do the work while I focused on how to make sure everyone came home when the mission was over.
I learned the hard way very quickly I am going to have to take a more hands on approach in the future. For when I returned to the briefing room to catch up with Cowboy he let me know that we were moving out as we had a lead on location of a gang related to the men I had seen called the Bu Dongs. If I had known at the time that Agent Summers and Agent Smith were at the moment involved in a mystical ritual that they would not be able to break for at least an hour I would have insisted that we waited.
Instead I will make a long story short. We traveled back to the Sanford Hotel first to make sure we gave the place a second look. Before we made the teleport from the hotel to a nearby warehouse near the docks and of course the Brooklyn Bridge I had a horrifying vision. In the vision I saw the figure with the Skull Mask on his face ripping into the others with blinding speed and myself teleporting away. I informed the others and I don’t know if I did not put enough horror into my performance but they seemed to not believe me and still wanted to move on.
We arrived on the room of the other warehouse in sight of the warehouse reputed to be the hangout of the Bu Dongs. Of course we were spotted and the place was even being staked out by the NYPD. With a quick call to Agent Jarvis at Montauk Base and another call placed by Cowboy using his police contacts the area was ours. I again warned them that I thought this was a bad idea but instead they wanted to move on and Eagle Eye wanted to stay behind to cover us with his sniper rifle.
What happened next began and was over so quickly if I had blinked I would have missed it. As we came closer the other Cowboy spotted mystical runes on the building which were confirmed by Eagle Eye as transportation runes. In other words on a side not the fact that we had learned that the NYPD had raided the warehouse and never found anything began to make sense. I of course called this new development into Agent Jarvis and he arranged for a team to be dispatched so we could sit and observe their operation. I had actually started to walk back to the other warehouse when suddenly the Voice moved to the door and knocked and when the door was answered used a password that Eagle Eye had seen in a vision to gain entry. Of course it was not that simple for when the Zombie saw him it reached to grab him and of course Eagle Eye blew his head off.
Seconds later Cowboy was in action shooting the hinges on the door seemingly getting ready to storm the warehouse. The Voice threw in a grenade while I moved back and asked them if they wanted to pull out or should I retrieve Eagle Eye. In truth I felt that his position left him a sitting duck as it were. Right on time the figure from my vision appeared and began to rip into the Voice and Cowboy and they were both taken down as I arrived via teleportation at Eagle Eye’s side. The Voice had kept calling for me to shoot them with my Advanced Law Assembly. I had even pulled it off my shoulder and started getting it ready to fire.
Eagle Eye had fired at who I would later learn was Necro the Undead Master and of course his bullets bounced off his skin. Some might call it cowardice and truthfully I don’t care what they think for I was following my Father’s adopted credo “Those that fight and run away, may live to fight another day.” So I left told Eagle Eye as I had yet another vision that we were soon to all be captured by Necro that we had to leave now! He of course quoted some credo about not leaving a man behind which I thought was ridicules if he didn’t stand a chance so I left him my Advanced Law Assembly and told him to resist me if he wished and teleported by to the Montauk Base.
As I returned I flew as quickly as I could to the interior of the Base trying to find out why either Agent Smith or Agent Summers had not been dispatched to us as I had left an open communications link since the Voice had made his move. I was soon informed by Agent Jarvis that they were both still in a ritual and he hoped they would soon be available. I had to calm myself for while I pride myself on my even tempered nature I had never known what it felt like to lose someone I had either been entrusted to transport or that I had ever transported. I felt terrible for they had left with me and not returned with me.
