My Mother always told me to be careful where you begin because you never know where you might end up and I will be honest for most of my life I never believed her. To set the record straight I was born to the renowned Scientist Morgan Anthony Whelton and shall we say Actress Linda Emily Harrison. They were of course married but my Mother was far from liberal while my Father conservative. I was the last child born of four the baby you might say and perhaps that why I had a lot more freedom than my brothers Marcus and Nigel and of course my sister Christina. Now you might be wondering who I am well my name is Amanda Ericka Whelton and I was destined to become the Agent with the codename Transporter and this is my story.
I had a wonderful Christian upbringing and thanks to my tutor Alexander Holt and especially Father Graham in addition to the constant love and support of my parents my childhood was quite ideal. It goes without saying that my family was wealthy and my parents allowed me to indulge my love of the arts. My youth to be honest never really became that exciting even after I was accepted into the prodigious Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts in New York City. I always had talent and looks but it never seemed to open the doors of opportunity that I had always thought I deserved.
It was yet another boring summer after my thirteenth birthday where the entire family had traveled to China to visit a few of my Mothers friends and where my Father had made arrangements to speak at some important Science Council meetings. Perhaps a little back story might be in order my Father Doctor Morgan Anthony Whelton is a renowned Scientist and Physician and my Mother Linda Emily Harrison is a famous Actress. Now the fact that my Father was also a Psion who possessed impressive psychic abilities while my Mother just happened to be a powerful Mutant with equally amazing abilities always really annoyed me. Since neither I nor any of my siblings ever showed any sign of and special abilities. So the fact that we were wealthy and my parents were always being called away my Father to some lecture or another and my Mother to some exotic shooting location for her latest film did not really phase me. Since my tutor Alexander and Father Graham were always there whenever I needed someone to talk to.
As I was saying I had to put up with Marcus, Christina, and Nigel on the trip to China and for the most part they were annoying to hang around but like I have already said my life was fairly depressing. Now I should mention since I was a child my Father had kept me on a special medication called Whelton Five or W5 for short. Who would have guessed the drug I had been taking was actually a psi-enhancer that my very own Father had been dosing me with hoping that one day my latent psionics might manifest. So when on what was to be first day at what we students call LaGuardia Arts when everyone the entire family was in attendance even Mom and Dad at breakfast I should have picked up a clue. Suffice to say when I had asked about why my morning medication was missing and my Parents looked at me and said Amanda brace yourself it’s time for you to be filled in on the family secret and I realized I was a failure like my other sibling before me.
My Father informed me that the reason he had been prescribing W5 was because I like my brothers and sister I had inherited a unique gene sequence that had left us with the potential for psionic abilities which W5 could have activated. My Mother had continued informing me that both me that she and Father were members of an Organization which was to only be known hence forth as the Agency. She had then laid out for me how LaGuardia Arts was in reality a training ground for young special agents of the Agency. My Father had let me know that my life was still my own and I was free to pursue the arts as was my intention or even the sciences if I chose but that from now on I would be learning how to use those skills to aid the Agency and protect our world from threats both alien and domestic.
The next four years at LaGuardia were filled with intensive vocal training and exhausting theater study. My Father had informed me of the importance of my studies and that one day my skills might be helpful to the Agency. I was not really that excited since I did not see the advantage of risking my life facing forces beyond the power of mere mortals. So I spent a great deal of time mastering my craft with the hopes of one day becoming a famous movie star or musician or lets be honest I had aspirations for both. No doubt due to my ability to teleport more than five miles even with a passenger. So while I spent a great deal of time auditioning for various television pilots and movies with the exception of a few commercials my career did not achieve the jump start that I would have hoped for.
After graduation I was enrolled in the New York Film Academy where I acquired an Associate’s Degree in Fine Arts in Filmmaking and Acting as well as a one year conservatory program filmmaking program. Which I used to I continue on to St. John’s University for my Bachelors of Science in Television and Film. Finally on to Yale University where I was able to complete the three year Masters of Fine Arts degree in Acting in two years instead of three due to my dedication and talent.
Of course during that entire time I traveled the globe due to the extensive contacts of the New York Film Academy appearing in stage productions and minor roles around the world while continuing to wait for my big break which never came. Eventually fate led to my run in with the Department of Supernatural and Extranormal Affairs or DSEA for short. Basically I had chosen to not rely on my parent’s money as I wanted to make a name for myself. It was during that the time while attempting to be discovered on the road singing at nightclubs I had decided to quit the whole endeavor. My plan was to give up my ambitions and take up the Sciences and join my Brother Marcus at Yale when after my farewell performance someone who I thought might be representative of a music label asked if he could speak to me for a moment on a matter of business.
That business turned out to be accepting an offer to join the DSEA and try an experimental drug called Diazal which they believed might activate my latent psychic abilities. The Agent had the proper credentials and even a note from my Father asking for permission to seek me out. Hell I had already given up my dreams of adventure and fame and being given the chance to be like my Parents and reach my full potential how could I refuse. After that moment everything was sort of blurry I woke up after having the strangest dreams of another life that I felt should have been my life that had felt more real than anything I had ever experienced. As I awoke there was an older man in a medical or science coat take you pick standing beside me. I also had a severe headache and I had a feeling that things were never again going to be the same.
Well not much gets me down as I am pretty even tempered and I could not wait for this so called show on the road for I wanted answers. So I excused myself for a moment and rose showered dressed and prepared myself to find out just what the DSEA had in store with me. I even found out that I was indeed different for when I nicked my leg shaving I found that the cut sealed itself seamlessly within moments not even leaving a scar. Well if my dreams were any indication of what I was capable of which I would have to soon test then so far the DSEA was living up to their end of the bargain and the only mystery that remained would be at what price. So it looked like I was up for another audition which meant soon it would be Light, Camera, Action and Transporter was ready for her close up.
